Yue Xie is Professor of Political Science at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He obtained his doctorate degree of political science from Fudan University in 2001. His teaching and research interests include contentious politics theory, comparative politics, and Chinese politics. He is engaged in long-term research and writing on popular protest and political development in China. Recently, he moves further his attention to the issue of how Chinese state responds to conflicts.
Professor Xie has published a volume of books and papers in Chinese and English on popular protest and political development in China. During 2006-2007, he held visiting scholarship in Columbia University; in 2010 and 2014, he was appointed as visiting fellow respectively in National University of Singapore and University of California, San Diego.
